[SHOT 2018] Trijicon’s New Products for 2018

Many new and improved products have been brought to market by Trijicon in the months leading up to SHOT 2018. Fans of the Trijicon HD iron sights will be happy to hear of the Trijicon HD XR night sights. The HD XR sights boast an expanded field of view and more precise targeting with the reduced size of the front sight (.122”) to nearly a third of the size of the original HD’s.

As more handguns are utilizing red dot sights, Trijicon added improvements to the original RMR and came out with the RMR 2. The RMR 2 upgraded the internal electronics and increased durability.

A new brightness lockout setting was also included to allow for users to hold both the manual adjustment buttons, therefore locking the illumination settings and preventing accidental changes. In efforts to lengthen battery life, Type 2 also uses a new battery conservation mode that will automatically adjust to ambient lighting if no adjustments are made for 16.5 hours. From the outside, you cannot decipher whether an RMR is a Type 1 or Type 2. However, if you remove the battery from the bottom of the optic, the Type 2 will have a star shape designed to provide better contact with the battery and prevent dot flicker.

On the left, you see the Type 1 and then the Type 2 on the right as designated by the star pattern.

The RMR is an extremely robust and versatile optic for handguns, rifles, or shotguns. The RMR is often used as a primary optic on handguns and rifles or as a secondary optic when paired with a magnified optic. Below is the new 45-degree mount for use with an RMR or MRO. New quick release mounts have also been added in multiple variants and are compatible with both RMRs and MROs.

The MRO line also added a new addition with the MRO Patrol. The patrol adds lens covers to the Ocular and Objective lens, with the objective lens receiving a honeycomb kill flash. Also included is a new quick release mount in absolute or 1/3 co-witness configurations.
